The Clyda Suite: Our Dedicated Dementia & Alzheimers Facility
The Clyda Suite is our dedicated dementia facility which opened at the beginning of 2010. This is a purpose built facility with its own secure gardens and therapy dog, Storm. The Clyda Suite has 18 private en-suite bedrooms which are large and bright like all bedrooms in Brídhaven Nursing Home.
The Clyda Suite is staffed by nurses and care staff who are trained to deal with challenging behaviour. The Clyda Suite is a unique facility in that it is one of a kind in Nursing Homes in Cork and Munster. The care in our Dementia and Alzheimer’s unit is person-centred and residents are encouraged to enjoy its individualised flexible environment and make Clyda their home.
Therapeutic Activities, such as baking, gardening, arts and crafts, song and dance, Sonas, reminiscence therapy, pet therapy and life story compilation are geared specifically towards the needs of people with dementia.
The day room opens out to a large well appointed garden area where residents can stroll at their leisure, watch the birds feeding or join in in helping at one of our BBQ's.
